Overview ☀️

🌞 The Canary Guide #WeekendTips ☀️

This weekend brings a hot, sunny and lively few days across Gran Canaria. Temperatures rise sharply inland, peaking at 34 °C on Sunday, with coasts like Mogán and Maspalomas staying a little cooler at 27–29 °C. The UV index remains very high (9–10), seas are warm (25 °C) with only a slight swell, and winds will be light to moderate from the northeast, fresher on the southeastern slopes.

It’s ideal weather for beachgoers — especially on the sheltered south and southwest coasts, including Amadores, where calm seas and bright sunshine are forecast right through Sunday. Inland, the heat will be more intense, so fiestas in the mountains (like Tejeda or Valsequillo) will need plenty of shade and hydration.

Events this weekend include some of the biggest traditional and cultural highlights of the year:

  • La Aldea’s Fiesta del Charco (Sun 7 Sept) — thousands jump into the lagoon to catch fish with their hands, a centuries-old tradition.

  • Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival (Fri–Sun) — San Agustín Beach hosts world-class soul acts for three nights.

  • Tejeda Fiestas del Socorro (all weekend) — celebrations in one of Spain’s most beautiful villages.

  • Valsequillo Apple & Cheese Fair (Sat–Sun) — produce, tastings and local crafts.

  • Arucas End of Summer Festival (Sat night) — live music, DJs and fireworks.
